My typical day in Paris consisted of a little work and a little shopping and lots of walking. My feet are happy to be bare, stretched out on the couch ; )
What I so appreciate in Paris is that you don’t necessarily have to go to a museum to feel like doing something cultural. Just walking in the streets is enough. Paris is like a living museum. Beautiful Hausmannian buildings, monuments here and there, art deco everywhere…
So proud to be carrying the beautiful collection of Anne Valerie Hash for kids called Mademoiselle next Spring. I went to pass Abi Loves order, met the designer who is such a lovely woman, visited her most extraordinary showroom which used to be a restaurant, a brothel, a synagog…incredible space she also held her last show in.
A visit to my friend Marie Helene de Taillac’s boutique in the chic 6eme area. Her new charms will be our special Christmas on Abi Loves…The first kids shop to be carrying this collection. How special is that?!
Strolling around I looked at more kids shops, brands I will be visiting at the next fair in Paris end of January. So many things to look forward to during the year to come on Abi Loves… I am thrilled!
Most of the afternoon I spent in book shops. Being based in Tokyo I so appreciate being able to read and understand what’s going on around me. So book shops are a dangerous place for me to spend time. First I want to learn about so many different things European history, countries like India, Laos, Burma, aromatherapy, art…and then for my kids…I cant even start explaining! They should stop going to school and stay home and read all I bring back for them ; ) Fantastic choice for the little ones. Incredibly tempting.
What did I get for them? some learning books, math and writing and then the fun stuff: Roald Dahl’s Charly and the Chocolate Factory and The Magic Finger, The Magic School Bus Space Explorers, Stanley’s Christmas Adventures, Clarice Green Dont Look Now. Now my daughter can read my son is getting into it too especially since she started reading stories to him. It’s funny how they copy us and each other: good things and bad things, of course.
I love Paris!

パリでの生活
パリでの私の生活はお仕事ちょっぴり、お買い物ちょっぴり、そしてウォーキングをたっぷり。やっと裸足でカウチに開放された私の足が嬉しそうに見えます。
パリの良いところは何と言っても文化に触れたくなった時に美術館に行かなくていいこと。道を歩くだけで充分です。パリは生きた美術館。美しい建築、モニュメント、アートがあちらこちらにあります。
来春、Mademoiselleというアン・ヴァレリ－・アッシュの美しいキッズコレクションをオンラインで紹介できることになり、とても光栄に思っています。Abi Lovesへのオーダーをするため、魅力的なデザイナーにも会うことができました。訪れた彼女のショウルームはレストランや宿、ユダヤ教会などに使われたことのあるとっぴな場所で、彼女の最新コレクションの発表の場にもなりました。
シックな6区にある友人のMarie Helene de Taillacのブティックにも行きました。彼女の作る新しいチャームはAbi Lovesのクリスマス特別バージョンです。MHTのキッズ商品を扱う第1号店になるなんて、すごいでしょ！？
1月末に行われるパリの展示会に向けて、そこで見るつもりの子供服ショップにも色々足を運びました。来年も楽しみなことがいっぱいでわくわくしています！
午後の大半は本屋さんで過ごしています。東京に住んでいる外国人の私にとって自分の回りに起こっていることを活字で読んで理解できるというのはとても嬉しいことです。だから本屋さんは時がたつのを忘れてしまう危険な場所。まずはヨーロッパの歴史、インドやラオス、ビルマの国々のこと、アロマテラピー、アート・・・その後は子供たちへの本・・・もう説明できないくらい色々！小さな子供たちへ魅力溢れるものをたくさん見つけました。学校を休んで私の持ち帰った本を片っ端から一日中読んで欲しいくらいです。
彼らに買った本を紹介します。算数やかきかたの習得本を何冊か、そして楽しい物語をいくつか。ロアルド・ダールの「チョコレート工場の秘密」「魔法のゆび」、「マジックスクールバス」、スタンレーの「クリスマスの冒険」、Claris Greenの「Ｄｏｎｔ Ｌｏｏｋ Ｎｏｗ」など・・・。娘は本が読める年になり、お姉さんらしく弟に本を読んであげるようになったら息子も少しずつ字を覚え始めました。彼らが親の真似をする様子は見ていて本当におもしろく・・・良いところも悪いところも似ています。
パリ大好き！

Cire Trudon－1643年創業のパリにしかないキャンドルショップ。こんなに素敵でシックなお店は見たことがありません。
